Insurance Direct Repair Programs (DRPs) and your Wrecked Car

Joseph Coupal - Tuesday, January 29, 2013

A recent J.D. Power and Associates survey indicates that wrecked vehicles are not being repaired right the first time. The 2013 U.S. Auto Claims Satisfaction Study (released January 2013) indicates that while insurance companies and body shops are repairing vehicles faster, the quality of repair is suffering. Contributing to lower satisfaction is a decline in the percentage of vehicles being fixed right the first time.

"While insurers have made significant progress in the past 12 months to improve the efficiency of the claims process, the repair providers have not kept pace," said Jeremy Bowler, senior director of the insurance practice at J.D. Power and Associates. "Failure to repair a vehicle correctly is critical to the customer experience as average satisfaction scores tumble over one hundred points for those who had to bring their vehicle back for repeat repairs."

Auto Insurers care about settling the claim fast and cutting their expenses. If you use their DRP the insures saves and you get nothing in return – quality drops, repair time increases, satisfaction wanes. If you go out of network for repair, you get a check quickly but usually for less than what is needed to repair the car (evidenced by the increasing of supplemental repair orders) and you are not compensated for diminished value!

If you choose to repair your vehicle you wait an average of 13.5 days for your car! And it probably won't be repaired correctly the first time. Add in CARFAX diminution and it makes sense to sell your damaged vehicle AS-IS.

Given all these facts, it is time for a paradigm shift. Just as you would not repair a broken television, clock or microwave, don't repair your wrecked vehicle. Sell it to DamageMAX and let us worry about what to do with your wrecked car. We buy damaged vehicles every day and specialize in your once-in-a-lifetime problem.

It your right not to repair your vehicle. You may request the settlement check and not repair the vehicle. If you wrecked your car and simply just don't feel comfortable driving the car again, please consider selling your damaged vehicle to DamageMAX. DamageMAX will buy your wreck and you keep the insurance check! Thought you could not have your cake and eat it too? Not so with DamageMAX!
